AHOY THERE!
The Oxford Boat Adventure offers children the opportunity to experience outdoor life around a secluded lake. Soak up the great Oxfordshire outdoors by boat, land on islands, light campfires, share adventures with friends, both old and new, and learn some of the skills that make the countryside come alive.
“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats”. Ratty and Mole’s adventures on and beside the water inspired The Oxford Boat Adventure.
reclaim childhood
Escape from the trappings and distractions of modern life. We replace screen time and social pressures with a chance for imagination to come alive, and for creativity and character to shine. At The Oxford Boat Adventure we embrace the opportunity for real world adventures.
We’ve created a screen free space where more traditional childhood adventures can thrive. There’s nothing old fashioned about technology free activities. This adventure course aims to celebrate and rekindle the great tradition of outdoor childhood fun and wonder.
THE LITTLE EXPLORERS - AGES 4-7
The Little Explorers programme is specially designed for children in aged 4-7, giving them a gentle and exciting introduction to outdoor adventure. These younger children are naturally curious, and our sessions give them the time, space and freedom to explore the farm in ways that feel safe, achievable and full of joy.
Each day offers a mix of simple, memorable activities suitable for their age. They might build dens, visit the island, cook on fires, follow treasure hunts, enjoy craft sessions, try beginner archery or, during Easter, help with lambing. Everything is hands-on, well supervised and created to spark imagination while building early confidence in the outdoors.
Our Professional Instructors and Early Years professionals caring for the children create a nurturing environment where kindness, teamwork and encouragement are at the heart of every activity. We support children as they learn to work together, solve small challenges and take pride in what they can do. The aim is not only to give them a wonderful day outdoors but to help them grow in confidence, independence and enthusiasm for nature. We’re confident the Little Explorers will gain a great deal from their time with us and leave with memories they’ll want to share at home.
THE ADVENTURERS - AGES 7-10
The Adventurers programme is designed for children aged 7 to 10 and offers a land and water experience full of excitement, challenge and discovery. At this age the children are ready for bigger adventures, and our sessions give them the chance to explore the farm, try new skills and enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities.
Our experienced and energetic team lead small groups through memorable adventures in a carefully managed and supportive environment. Activities vary with the season and the length of each course, but every day is built around hands-on experiences that encourage confidence, problem solving and teamwork.
Water Adventures may include kayaking, canoeing, improvised rafting, dinghy rowing and stand-up paddle boarding. Land Adventures can include fire lighting, shelter building, campfire cooking, survival skills, concealment, bushcraft and many other activities designed to keep children active and engaged.

THE PIONEERS - AGES 11-13
New for 2025: The Pioneers are our oldest group, for children aged 11-13, designed for those who are ready for bigger adventures and a greater sense of independence. They’ll take part in many of the classic activities our camps are known for, but with new adventures added and a higher level of skills explored.
Across our lakes and woodland, Pioneers take on more advanced tasks, from longer paddles and team challenges to problem-solving missions and guided exploration. Activities are still safe and fully supported, but they’re shaped to feel more grown-up, giving older children room to step up, make decisions and work together.
The aim is to build confidence, capability and leadership in an outdoor setting, while still keeping the experience fun, social and memorable. It’s the next step in their adventure journey.
